How can I reclaim Dutch / Belgian VAT? (Company outside the EU)

For purchases at Dutch or Belgian auctions of lots won through business accounts that are exported to countries outside the EU within 3 months of the purchase date, we can only process a VAT refund request if you send us an official EX-A document. You can contact the customs authorities in the country where you purchased your lot to arrange an EX-A document. You must complete one EX-A document per auction and return it to us, together with the original invoice to which your request relates, within three months of the auction closing. VAT refund requests are processed for VAT amounts of €50 or more.

Troostwijk Auctions offers this as a service to customers. Normally, you would have to apply for a temporary VAT number from our tax authorities and reclaim the VAT in your own name.

Send the fully completed and signed documents to info@troostwijkauctions.com (Dutch auction), together with your bank details, or to info@troostwijk.be (Belgian auction). Troostwijk must receive these within 3 months of the auction closing date; otherwise, we can no longer process your request.
