What does 'Subject to allocation' mean?

Sometimes lots are offered with the note 'Subject to allocation.'

What does this mean for you? If you have placed the highest bid, your bid will be submitted to the seller immediately after the auction closes. This process typically takes around 48 hours. If the seller accepts your bid, the purchase will be 'allocated,' and you can proceed with payment and plan the pickup. If your bid is not accepted, the item will not be sold. However, in most cases, you can complete your purchase directly with the highest bid.

Please refer to the lot information for more details about the allocation process.
