What does "Subject to allocation" mean?

Sometimes lots are offered with the note "Subject to allocation" or "Subject to award".

What does this mean for you? If you have placed the highest bid, your bid will be submitted to the seller immediately after the auction closes. This process usually takes 48 hours (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays recognized in the Netherlands). If the seller agrees, the purchase is "allocated" and you can proceed with payment and scheduling pickup. So you cannot be certain of winning or picking up the lot until the lot has been awarded/allocated. If your bid is not accepted, the item will not be sold. In most cases, however, you can complete your purchase immediately with the highest bid.

See the lot information for more details about the allocation process.
