Make sure to bring the following documents to the pickup location:

• The paid Troostwijk-Auctions invoice (printed or digital)
• A valid ID

After we have received the payment, you can contact the seller to request the vehicle’s registration code. The seller’s contact details are listed in the auction details.

Note: If you hire a transporter, you must arrange the transfer in advance.

Transfer on pickup day
If you want to transfer the vehicle on the pickup day, you do not need to take any steps beforehand; on the day of pickup, you will receive the vehicle’s registration code.

On pickup days where high demand is expected, the seller may email the registration code in advance with a request to transfer the vehicle prior to pickup. This only happens if the lot has been paid for.

​Transfer instructions
To transfer a vehicle, take the vehicle’s registration code to a PostNL location or an RDW-approved car dealership. An employee at PostNL or the RDW-approved dealership will then register the vehicle in the new owner’s name and arrange a registration code. This process is completed within a few minutes!
You will receive the license card and the second registration code by mail from the RDW at your home address. You will also receive the proof of release from liability. You must present this proof when picking up your vehicle, after which you can take possession of the vehicle.

Vehicle transfer costs
The costs for transferring a vehicle and registration are the responsibility of the buyer.

Hiring a transporter for vehicle transport
If you hire a transporter, the transfer must already be completed. As mentioned above, you can request the codes from the seller after paying the invoice. Then you can email a copy of the release of liability to us and give the original to the transporter.

​Note: To transfer a car or motorcycle, you must be at least 18 years old.

Applying for a transit license plate
Are you bringing a car that is not registered in the Netherlands (without a Dutch license plate) through the Netherlands to another country? Then you need a temporary license plate if you want to drive the vehicle. You apply for a transit license plate (transit number plate) for this. Additionally, it is mandatory to take out separate liability insurance (WA insurance) for this. You can contact the RDW for more information. You can read more on this page:

Certificate of Conformity (CoC)
The Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is the 'birth certificate' of a vehicle. A CoC shows that the vehicle complies with European standards. You request a CoC from the manufacturer. Any costs associated with obtaining a CoC are the buyer’s responsibility. A manufacturer must be able to provide a CoC up to 10 years after production. Exporting
In some cases, the seller can arrange (part of) the export. There are (of course) costs involved. If the seller can arrange (part of) the export, this will always be stated in the Additional details on the lot page.

If nothing is mentioned about vehicle export in the Additional details on the lot page, you can follow the instructions in the attached document at the bottom of this page.
