When purchasing an auction lot and intending to transport it abroad, there are several important aspects to consider.
Buyer within the EU: If you reside within the EU, there's no need to take additional steps for transporting the lot(s) to the final destination in Dutch, Belgian, or German auctions. Note: exceptions may apply for vehicles or specialized equipment; for inquiries, please contact our customer service through the chat button below. If you made the purchase with a business account (including a validated VAT number), the VAT is automatically shifted, and you do not need to prepay it. For private buyers, the VAT cannot be shifted.
Buyer outside the EU: Exporting goods from the EU to destinations outside requires specific steps. It's essential to understand that Troostwijk does not handle such exports; it's your responsibility to correctly export the lot(s). Additionally, buyers outside the EU always pay the full VAT, which can be reclaimed after the lot is exported (processing time: 2-3 months).
Important Points:
- To reclaim VAT, the lot must be transported outside the EU within 3 months of purchase.
- If you transport the lot(s) yourself, ensure you obtain the necessary export documents. You may consider engaging an exporter for assistance.
- If you use a transporter, collaborate with them to arrange the export documents. They are experienced and familiar with the required export codes and data for a smooth export process.
- Once you've transported the lot, send us a COMPLETED EX-A document, and our finance department will reimburse the VAT to you.
