New to the online auction world? Welcome! We are pleased to inform you about buying consumer goods, vehicles, industrial equipment, real estate and much more through Troostwijk Auctions.
Sellers or contributors register with us to sell items (lots). We work with them to accurately describe them and provide clear photos showing the condition of the item. This way you know what to expect from the lots you bid on.
You can bid at your leisure via our website or the new mobile app for both Android and IOS. You will always have a clear understanding of the costs you can expect when placing your bid.
Buying a lot through Troostwijk Auctions consists of a few steps that we are happy to explain to you below:
Bidding: To participate in our auctions, first create a Troostwijk account. After your account has been created, you can bid easily and quickly. There are some rules we would like to remind you of:
Bidding is with minimum steps, you will immediately see what the next minimum bid you can place is. Of course, you can always adjust this to another higher amount, if so desired.
Auto-bidding: Don't feel like bidding manually every time? You can set a maximum amount to keep control of your bids. Place an auto-bid and tell our system the maximum amount you are willing to bid on the lot. If you are outbid, we will automatically increase your bid until you have the highest bid or we are at your limit. Are you at your limit and someone else has just placed a higher bid? Then we will notify you so that you can still continue bidding. Did you change your mind and do you no longer want an autobid? Then place a new static (one-time) bid for the next minimum required bid amount.
2-Minute Rule: To avoid having to wait for the last minute, there is a 2-minute rule in our auctions. The closing time of a lot is extended by 2 minutes as soon as a new bid is placed.
Bids are binding: Every online bid you place is final and binding. Bids cannot be cancelled, as there is no cooling-off period (right of withdrawal) for public auctions (and all auctions at Troostwijk are public). Moreover, withdrawing bids would affect the integrity of the auction process. So bid responsibly and within your budget.
For bids over €4,000, you must pay a deposit to participate. This will be refunded to you after 60 days or on request.
Public Auction: Earlier in this article you read that all auctions of Troostwijk are public. The hallmark of a public auction is that you can inspect the lots physically and/or online and attend the auction closing in person by appointment. Please note that public auctions do not allow the right of withdrawal. The lots are described as accurately as possible, but ‘as is’, whereby the seller and Troostwijk give no guarantees. Naturally, our auctions are held under notarial supervision.
Payment: When you have won a lot and it is available in your account in 'my purchases', you will receive a message from us that your lot can be paid for. Following payment, the invoice will be made available, again in 'my purchases'.
Collection and Delivery: Troostwijk organizes two types of auctions: Collection auctions and Delivery auctions.
With collection auctions we organize one or more collection days at a specific location where you can collect your won lot(s). These days are fixed and in most cases not by appointment. You will find information about this on your invoice or in messages we send you by e-mail. Unable to attend? Then we expect you to arrange alternative transportation, either by using an acquaintance/relative or by hiring a carrier (link transport options).
With delivery auctions the products are delivered to your address, often with a limited delivery area (e.g. only the Netherlands excluding the Wadden Islands and Belgium). Therefore, always check the lot description and auction information carefully.
